The Turf Fertilizer Law prescribes acceptable lawn fertilizer mixtures, rates, and acceptable application periods as well as establishes a certification requirement for professional applicators. The law specifically applies to fertilizer application on established lawn/grass areas. Establishment of vegetation in conjunction with a certified soil erosion and sediment control plan shall be done in accordance with the Standards for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control. Commercial farms are exempt. A soil test may be used to support the use of Phosphorous (available P2O5) but must be no more than three years old.
